You've Got Up To Seven Months to Earn 70,000 AAdvantage Miles

Update: The 70,000 mile offer referenced below is no longer available. You can now earn 65,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $4,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.

You may have hit the pause button on traveling for the time being, but as we’ve covered over the past couple of months, this is a great time to stockpile travel rewards points with credit card welcome offers and bonus categories, so you can splurge on the trip of your dreams as soon as you’re ready to explore the world again.

The latest card to make a case for itself is the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®, a small business credit card with a lucrative limited time welcome offer.

The Discoverer has partnered with The Points Guy affiliate network for our coverage of credit card products. The Discoverer and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers. The offers mentioned below are subject to change at any time and some may no longer be available.

For a limited time, new applicants for the card can earn 70,000 AAdvantage miles after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first four months of account opening. And while this isn’t advertised on the card application page, Citi is also allowing applicants who are approved by May 31 to extend that deadline by an additional three months if needed, giving you seven months to reach the minimum spending threshold.

According to The Points Guy’s latest valuations, those 70,000 bonus miles are worth about $980 in travel, and that’s in addition to the miles you’d regularly earn on that $4,000 in spend.

Card Benefits and Fees

While the 2x miles you’ll earn on eligible American Airlines purchases with the card might not be very exciting right now, the card includes a wide array of additional 2x bonus categories, including telecommunications merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants and at gas stations.

Cardmembers can also receive a free checked bag and preferred boarding on American Airlines flights, in addition to a 25% discount on in-flight Wi-Fi services.

All in all, it’s a pretty standard set of benefits for a card with a $99 annual fee, but in this case, that fee is waived for your first year.

Is A Business Card For You?

While business cards like this are marketed towards small business owners with storefronts and employees, anyone that does gig work like ridesharing or food delivery, or even occasional side work like photography, can also sign up. A business credit card is just an easy way to separate your business and personal expenses, even if your only employee is yourself.
